September 7, 2019 — Lake Tahoe. f/16, 4 seconds, ISO 64. Pan to the left.
After a brief hiatus, one more. This is not too different from what originally emerged from the camera — but a bit reduced in vibrancy as a salute to Jerry and Robert who were somewhat minimalist themselves at times.
Coming up on a year in the blogosphere. Thinking of a suitable celebration. Stay tuned…

You do these so well, Michael. I hope you are able to hang them in a gallery somewhere so folks can enjoy them and reward you with their oohs and aahs. That would be well deserved.
I thought of them, and their partners in music, as soon as I saw your title. My touch of grey is now a complete makeover. 🙂

Well, I just woke up and this is how I start my day. I would like to start every day this way. Thank you very much.

I got up extra early this a.m. thanks to the end of DST. My dog doesn’t know anything about that. It was nice to start my day with your image.

Back to the world of Rothko.
Your allusions in the title and in the names Jerry and Robert were all too abstract for me.

Back to the world of Rothko, yes. What a long strange trip it’s been.

Now that’s an allusion I get. An article by David Dodd on dead.net says about the words you’ve quoted: “At some point, [Robert] Hunter was accused of using a cliché in that final phrase of the chorus. When something you make up becomes such a commonly-used turn of phrase that your own invention of it is accused of being cliché, that’s some measure of wordsmithing success, I would say.”

As for the first illusion, I wanted the colors to be more muted than the original. As I was turning down the vibrance a few clicks at a time, the center band started to go neutral. After a few more clicks I said, “a touch of grey kind of suits it anyway.”

I made a reply to Jane, but just in case you missed this, fun fact: the Desd played at our rec hall dance in 1966.

Though it is hardly visible, the thin white line is very prominent.
Excellent work, Michael.

Thank you very much! It’s funny how that thin line defines the piece. Without it, there is no “there” there.
