First it was the sound and fury. Then it was the form and color.

Actually it was always the form and color.

  1. Wow. That definitely gives the impression that you were about to get soaked. Giving it a second look appears that you actually were under water. And a third look, with a little imagination, seems like it’s a gigantic tidal wave about to inundate a city on a hill. Awesome shot, Mike.

    • Thanks for noticing. That’s what grabbed me too. 90% of the composition happens after the fact, since the wave moves so fast. As I was reviewing the shots I saw the parallels and cropped to emphasize them.

  2. I love it, Michael – so much energy, with the added disconcerting feeling of not quite being sure whether you’re in the wave or on it. 🙂 Beautifully done!

    • Thank you! With shots like this, one has to just keep shooting. The magic is discovered in it the image review after the shoot. About 500 shots a day for five days. I’ll be reviewing for weeks.

      • 🙂 It’s true, the waves move way too fast to know what you’re getting, and I know you like opening up the goodies later on and seeing what’s there, and what the possibilities might be.
