Welcome to Iceland. I’ve never, ever experienced a passport-control officer smiling genuinely and welcoming me before. It happened here. A cold country gave a very warm welcome. Iceland is like that.
Iceland is indeed cold in the winter. There are storms. There are incredible sights to see and photograph. These sea stacks have been captured by thousands of photographers before. Today it was my turn.

Magnificent view. Reminds me of Harry Potter. The scene where he and Dumbledore standing on the rock on the ocean to search the Horcrux.

Not too shabby for a first out of the box. I am sure even more literally outside of the box will be coming but this is an outstanding start. I’ve never worried too much about shooting what others have shot if one puts his/her own mark on the location.
Iceland is doing very well by the photographic community visits. I’d think a welcoming kiss on each cheek would be appropriate. 🙂
So far you’ve been having good time along the way. Hope that continues for your entire stay.

The popular shots are popular for a reason. They’re impossible to resist. And yes, we can each put her own spin on. The conditions yesterday were amazing. Driving snow gave an interesting layer to the image. Stay tuned.

I’m not really a fan of long exposure photography but this is a beautiful shot, and the limited colours serve only to enhance it.

Yes, this picture of your’s is really good, but in many instances – maybe particularly here in the UK – long exposure mono seems to be standard for landscapes, and I really do think its been reduced to a cliché.

I agree 100%. There are some times, however, when even a cliché is appropriate. This was one of those times.

A fabulous image, Micael, because the dark, foreboding atmosphere is just held off a bit by the pretty swirls of froth around the rocks.
