January 27, 2020 — Jökulsárlón, South Coast, Iceland

Only when the last post actually published did I realize it might be just a bit on the bleak, somber side. That’s not how I want to leave Iceland, nor is it the parting thought of Iceland that I want to leave for you.

Here’s something a bit more on the bright side.

Now we’ll move on…

  1. I didn’t find the wave bleak but energetic and powerful. But that you posted this to lessen what might be seen that way is a bonus for us to see the beauty once more that Iceland has to offer a photographic visitor. It’s bright and beautiful.

  2. Never before have I thought of ice being capable of ‘blooming,’ but the colors here — pink, lavender, and smoky blue — remind me of some of our most delicate spring flowers.

  3. We need that light coming in from the right…desperately…still listening to Ry, who’s still thinking it’s gonna be all right, in another version. Thanks for this terrific image, up close and personal with power, crunch and something called hope, maybe.

  4. For me, there can be great beauty in bleak and sombre scenes, I have seen them in the UK’s Northern Isles, in Arabia, in Kenya and elsewhere, and have frequently felt both awestruck and vastly privileged – yes, and sometimes afraid too. That is how the Natural World can sometimes be, and the Natural World still keeps on working, after all. 🙂
