All over the world
Every year, our friends and family waited with bated breath for our Christmas card. Every year we presented a photo of far-flung locales with the Muse and I and the boy.
Sometimes the scenes happened almost as shown.
We began the tradition in 2007 on the Sonoma County Coast. I told a business associate that we had to rent a helicopter to get the tree onto the rock. She believed it. And we were off to a roaring start!
- St Regis Mountain, New York State. Easier when I was a kid.
- Patio of the Art Institute in Chicago. Our kind of town.
- Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Vince gave me permission to re-do his self-portrait. I don’t know how Chewy got into another one of the paintings.
- A major city in France. That tower is a real eye-full.
- A major river in a major city in the UK.
- A conversation with two old gents in the aforementioned major UK city.
- Yes, Chewy really did go to Lake Tahoe with us. Every year.
- A major West Coast city. A famous bridge.
- Full circle.
Same hats every year. Magic. Same tree too.
Loved it. 😍

The best xmas cards ever!!!!! Love the hat on Van Gogh and tree on other places!!!!! Did Chewy actually get in the Met? Of course I’m not questioning him modeling for Vincent!
Brilliant and bittersweet.. In our albums we always added Loretta as ‘The Producer’. She was with us in all our studio sessions. Looking back at those photos make me smile but we miss her so much…

Thank you very much! It was a lot of fun making those cards. No, Chewy never left California except to go to Nevada when we went to Lake Tahoe. And indeed, wasn’t Loretta the producer? Chewy was our CIO — Chief Inspiration Officer.

Ah ha ha ha… I love that… Perfect photo editing!
Hera is our CIO now!!!!
Here’s Loretta at work, producing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3hp8UOnAv4 😉

Wow! What an attentive supervisor she was!

Very attentive! Our sound engineer was very impressed! She was the mascot of the studio! 😉

Absolutely. And she was in the best position to point out a small amount of distortion at 17 kHz.

I’m sure you know about the 15 kHz tone on the lead out of side two of the Sergeant Peppers album, just for dogs.

A Day in the Life…. Sir Paul, always was an animal lover! 😉

Indeed. Actually, it was John that asked that the tone be put in. But Paul certainly was and I’m sure still is an animal lover. As was Linda, the true love of his life. And of course, around the same time was Pet Sounds with a dog barking in the final track.

He still is an animal rights activist (with Peta etc)…
Pet Sounds….ah…..

So what prompted a visit from the ghosts of Christmas past in May?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Continuing the Chewy story started earlier in the month. He was born on May 7 and passed 14 years later on May 27.

I knew this was the continuation of the story but I forgot the significance of May and tuned in to the Christmas theme.

Yep. Today, four years ago, was not the happiest of days. So I thought I would brighten it up today.

These are so clever Michael, I loved every one of them. No wonder your friends looked forward to them! We’re in the midst of a tropical depression with teeming rain and your post really brightened the day 😊

Thank you very much, Tina. Yes, I saw that the storm was coming your way. Stay dry. Stay well.

Thanks Michael – much ado about nothing thankfully. Who needs a tropical storm in the midst of a pandemic. Yikes!

I frequently lose track of time. Is there’s something about this post that prompted the question?

Of course, you say “Good boy” after every shot!!!

Well, yes. But also he said “good boy” to me as well.

When I saw the first shot I thought he was really wearing the hat which neither Bentley, Murphy, Dixie, nor Cassie would ever do. They are all fun images and yes, make happy memories once the sadness has passed.

He never would’ve actually worn it. Oh, no. We did have fun.

Absolutely wonderful set of photos, highly imaginative and amusing >>> in a nice way(!!!) this very much reminds me of the worldwide travels gnome in the film Amelie! A very favourite film of mine, very much an inspiration. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Wow! Do I ever feel country and redneck now… all I have of Mr. T are images of him carrying big sticks in his mouth or carrying off fruit from the fruit trees to sneak in the house for later consumption. What a clever idea and what great times you had! I’m going to get real Oklahoma redneck now and just say those Christmas cards are bad ass! So hilarious!
