As with yesterday’s post, a storm was on its way. Richard and Mimi Fariña were singing in my ear. The Muse and Chewy were enjoying the breeze.
Turner was breathing down my neck.

The reddish streaks add to the otherwise grayscale image.

Yes, and because Big Sur was their stomping ground. I actually toned down the reddish streaks a little bit from the original version.

I still have that album. “A Swallow Song” is one of my favorites.

It is one of my all-time favorite haunting melodies. I’m on my third copy of the album: the original vinyl, the original CD, and an absolutely beautifully remastered CD. Listening to the remastered is like having them in the room with you.

Thank you very much. “A Swallow Song” always comes to mind when I go to Big Sur. Mimi and Richard called the Big Sur area home and all of their music is imbued with Big Sur. I feel a certain reference when I hear that song. Similarly I feel a certain reference when I look at Turner’s works. And somehow the sun always finds its way to the sea…

On the coast, there is a wonderful restaurant called Nepenthe. I don’t eat red meat very often, but I would make an exception for their Ambrosia Burger. And a glass of red wine. And the view. And wonderful, friendly people you meet. Al Jardine of the Beach Boys sometimes hangs out there. He lives a few kilometers north of there on the road to Pfeiffer Beach.

They have lots of really tasty vegetarian and vegan choices. And, of course, if you eat seafood there are many many choices.

We would love for that to happen. Lots to talk about. My wife grew up in a Classical Music family. And out of that, in addition to classical she’s the only real rock fan in the family. Also jazz. We are both photographers. We both love to hike. And eat. And enjoy wine. And just sit and stare at the horizon.

Awww wouldn’t it be great…. one slight obstacle…. we’d have to come by sea!!!!!! One of us won’t get in a plane!😂🤣😂 But it’s lovely to think we could! 😉 Maybe if you travel to Greece!

Seems more likely than your coming here. Although, air travel isn’t that bad. It’s just a bus with wings. And usually the ride is smoother.

I know, while studying in London, I’d been flying back and forth all the time…
However flying to my other half seems …illogical as Spock would put it! And I can’t say I blame him either! 😉

I wants knew an international fashion model who flew from the United States back-and-forth to all points in Europe and many points in Asia many times a year. She was terrified of flying. It was Trumatic for her every single time. In conversation I happen to ask if she could articulate her fear and she said she was afraid that the plane would simply fall out of the sky. I asked her if she knew how an airplane actually worked and she said that she didn’t. I gave her an explanation after which she heaved a huge sigh of relief and didn’t have any more problem.

Well, he has a point. But here’s something to look at: it is indeed unnatural for humans to fly. And in keeping with nature, humans do not fly. However it is also natural for humans to build things and invent things. One of those things is airplanes. Airplanes fly. People don’t fly. People fly IN airplanes. But it is the airplane that is doing the flying.

It is unnatural for humans to make a piano-like sounds, that’s why humans build pianos. It is unnatural for humans to go 130 km/h along the ground. That’s why we build cars. I’m just being pesky. 😉

While the rest of you were reminiscing about Big Sur and etc., Third Coast me saw your title, looked at the image, and went an entirely different direction. Hank on the storm jib, reef the main, and settle back for whatever comes on that ‘other road.’

I do. It’s a fact. And it’s not really ironic that it’s the exact same enthusiasm that causes me to seek out the essence of what I’m trying to show, or say, and not overdo it. It might seem like a paradox, but it’s not.
