The summer ocean is not as rambunctious as the winter ocean. But when you get close, interesting things happen.

  1. Excellent! Kind of scary-looking but also exhilarating.
NASA’s next probe is going to Titan, and they keep mentioning oceans of liquid methane, I’ve no idea what that would look like, but this photo brought that to mind. It would also be such a great book cover for Homer’s Odyssey, that old translation, a “wine-dark sea.”
(I guess it would have to be Syrah, that’s the darkest wine I know!)

  2. I kind of hate it when I am told “that’s your best shot ever”, so I won’t say it here. But it certainly one of the most interesting and great cause for curiosity. It would stop me in my tracks were I walking through a gallery…but many of your images would.

I love the contrast between the dark water and that wonderful line of breaking line, complemented by a dash of spray. Just wonderful.

  4. Fantastic, Michael, I love it. I’ve always been interested in playing with scale, and this does that. At the same time, it complements your distant landscapes really nicely. I like the solid black lower half, too. Wonderful. 🙂
