August 6, 2019; Vevey, Switzerland. Our first week in Switzerland was spent visiting old friends and meeting new ones. Wonderful in all ways, and proved just how friendly Switzerland really is, but not terribly productive photographically.
On August 5 we began our workshop with Oliver Klink. It was a great day, and I learned some valuable lessons, but no keepers. August 6, however, was different. It was special in many ways. You’ll see how the day began in the next post. Here’s how it ended. Why I was only using the pocketable G7X II will be apparent next time.
First shot looking south across Lac Léman.
Next shot a little while later, looking west.
(Canon G7X II. RAW processing in DxO Pro, Editing in Adobe Photoshop.)

Love the sliver of light on the water in the second. Two dramatic images, Michael. Enjoy your travels.

If the other shots are half as good as these we’re in for a real treat. Mice work, Michael.

I agree with Jane. That bit of illuminated water makes that image come alive.

Thank you very much. You know how much I like glints of light on horizons.

The shift in mood between the two scenes is striking – – I might call the first one, almost foreboding, while the second one, even darker, has a completely different feeling, due to that silvery gleaming on the water. These are both just terrific.

Thank you very much, sir. It was amazing watching the storms develop. Several separate storms one after another.

Not productive photographically…I don’t agree.
You only need one.
The first image, made me think of Shakespeares, The Tempest.

What great cloudscapes. I’ve been seeing their like in 19th-century paintings at various art museums.

You were lucky to be there during such dramatic weather, but it took skill to make these photos! And it’s also very impressive to have taken such great photos while away from home, AND processed and posted them already!

Thanks very much. We are in a pretty intense photo workshop here so we have to do at least SOME processing. Putting them on the blog isn’t too much of an extra step so long as I keep the words to a minimum.
