Mt. Ghost Ship

Taken about a half-hour before the image in yesterday’s post — looking north, rather than east. The clouds and mist were in constant motion. Indeed, much of the time the mountains were obscured by clouds. My February 15 post shows one dramatic moment. The image above shows a pause in the turmoil of the cloudy cauldron.

Still wondering if JMW Turner would’ve liked Pink Floyd.

      Thank you very much. And Turner is the man! One of my absolute favorite artists of all time. I’ll bet that if he were a contemporary he would like Pink Floyd. If you listened to one of his paintings, it would sound like Pink Floyd.

    In the earlier picture, the iceberg plays a subservient role to the dramatic clouds and is almost lost in the haze that surrounds it. In today’s take, the balance has shifted and the iceberg becomes the unmistakable subject.

    Beautiful and mysterious-looking, I could definitely see it as the Flying Dutchman.
    And I like your pairing of Turner & Pink Floyd, that’s a fun idea for my next trip to an art museum. A few years ago, I saw an exhibit of Turner’s maritime paintings, at the Peabody museum, and he could be a real wild man, I bet he’d have loved Floyd’s experimentation, too.

    I can’t speak for Turner, but I do like the both of them so I’d like to think so. There’s no accounting for taste though. Besides Pink Floyd I also like tThe Clash and Green Day. Go figure. 🙂

    I do like the ghostly appearance, not at all ghastly, of the mountain and, having had my patience tested more than once, can imagine watching the fog/clouds thickening and thinning waiting for the mountain’s grand appearance. And grand it is. And yes, I agree…you’ve got TCatT…Turner Channel all the Time. 😉
