That’s a trip worth taking. Cloudy again here this early morning. Hoping for clearing as dawn approaches. Good luck with your viewing.

Thank you very much. It’s nighttime viewing now, for NERWISE.

I’ve read that morning still works but obviously not here. I’ll try staying up to after sunset…yes, I go to bed while it’s still light out.

Then it definitely would’ve been better a couple weeks ago for you. It really comes into view about 80 minutes after sunset.

A swell photo of land swells. It’s amazing how like the ocean the land appears.

Thank you very much. The secret is rocking the camera a bit during the ICM pan.

You were seriously risking NEOWISE not showing up after this shot! 😉

NEOWISE orbits to the beat of its own drummer. NEOWISE is not concerned with my petty earthly photography experiments. 😉

Well, I believe it would feel intimidated making its appearance after such a shot! 😉

Thank you. It was a serious color temperature shift from the original. “I don’t think this is Marin county anymore, Toto.“

That’s the beauty of it though, Mike. We only see the result… perfectly done! 😃

Well done! Whether Martian or terrestrial, the landscape you’ve produced is lovely in its forms as well as its colors.

Thank you. Marin is warmer than Mars.

Marin may be warmer, but it never went to Mars the way Mariner did.

Much of the population of Marin has been all kinds of places that they have never been to before.

That sounds like a Yogi-Berra-ism.

Or just a typical Marin County. Here’s a song that is the essence of Marin county, sung by Dino Valenti/Chet Powers, the man who wrote it. He also wrote get Together, made famous by The Youngbloods.

Thank you very much. As I was going through the shoot, this one jumped out at me because of the gradient.

Thank you. Yes, there was a dust storm on Mars that day.

Whether it was really a trans-Mars flight or you were really playing around with ICM (who knows with you??) it’s a great image. 🙂 And you leave me scratching my head as to how ICM would produce this, but that’s OK.

The hills of the Marin headlands looking northwest from Hawk Hill above the northern end of the Golden Gate bridge. The trick here is to rock the camera gently while doing the ICM pan. About a three second exposure. I shifted the color balance in raw development and used grad filters to darken the sky and foreground. Then some selective sharpening on the fidges and fine-tuning color balance and clarity to bring out some details while deemphasizing others. Now you know all my secrets.

Very pretty effect. It is as though you are painting with a camera.
