March 22, 2021 — Sonoma County Coast.
I’ve shot and I’ve processed a hundred new pictures
I’ve formed and I’ve weathered scores of opinions
I’ve kept and I’ve scrapped a thousand examples
I’ve spent time away in the course of my journeys
I’ve reflected so much and concluded the essence
And it’s a soft, it’s a soft, it’s a soft, and it’s a soft
It’s a soft rain of pictures gonna fall
Yes, I have been away. In the process I’ve moved from Silicon Valley to Berkeley…
I’ve packed and I’ve unpacked too many boxes…
And that has taken time too.
Now it’s time to catch up. We did travel the Sonoma coast in the midst of all this. Here’s something captured somewhere between camera and imagination.
Stay tuned…

Thanks, Marina. You’ve seen me on Instagram so you know I haven’t been completely gone. Just in a hurry.

So many stories created filling the void left by your absence. Packing and unpacking…a reintroduction to elements of your life.

Thanks, Brenda. Packing and unpacking is indeed a reintroduction to the elements of one’s life. And that carries with it the individual decisions of which to keep and which to pass on to others or discard.

Whatever the reason, good or bad, moving is never fun especially if it’s after a long time in one place. We’ve been in this house now for 36 years and I can’t imagine packing up and moving. When we bought it the realtor described it as a good “starter home”. I said I’d be leaving it feet first and considering how much stuff we’ve accumulated over the years and what it would take to pack it all up I think I’ll stick with said plan. 🙂
Glad you are back and look forward to more of these idyllic and calming, dare I say serene?, shots. 🙂 Years ago Doonesbury had a strip with a character, Jeff Redfern who morphed into the Red Rascal, riding an elevator listening to Bob Dylan muzak. You’ve done it much better justice than that.

Thanks, Steve. I tried to do justice to Bob. We’d been in the house 23 years and a lot can and did collect. We got rid of a lot. In the end, we had had enough of Silicon Valley. We wanted to stay in the Bay Area and explored the east bay hills. Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley, Kensington. Turned out the house and neighborhood we liked was in Berkeley.
