December 29, 2019 — Sonoma Coast, Afternoon
It would seem, six hours later, that Turner was on vacation and Rothko was working overtime.

You prompted me to search for “Rothko grey” and this is what turned up:

A message of peace and calm in your image Michael. All the best to you in the New Year – perfect sentiments going into 2020. We can hope!

Thank you, Tina. That is what I’m always trying to do. I’m glad that at least sometimes I actually pull it off. A wonderful 2020 to you too.

Fine image, I’m reminded more of Hiroshi Sugimoto’s seascapes than Rothko. Best wishes for 2020…

You’re welcome – hope you have lots of great photographic opportunities. By the way, what part of California are you from? I get out to Marin fairly frequently.

I’m in the San Francisco Bay area. Right at the moment I am at Sea Ranch on the Sonoma Coast.

That’s a beautiful place – I visited there a long time ago, in the 70’s.

First saw it in 1970 when I was in college. Only started coming up here in the last 15 years or so.

As I’ve said before, there must be a hallway, corridor, or large room with a long wall that needs these works hanging for all to see. How to narrow them down to the right number would be difficult. Although your work does reflect that of some of the masters of painting, they are also uniquely yours. I love the silver streak (not to be confused with the movie).

Thank you very very much. This year will be devoted to getting them on some walls. I hope it is not a nerve shattering experience. 😉

Each situation is different and if you propose to the right gallery or agent you can be successful. I am a lousy self-promoter so my sales are sporadic. Good luck and may sales be plentiful.

The horizontal bands seem alternately soft and hopeful, and heavy and foreboding – a mixed bag, which is probably what we can expect from 2020. But I trust it will be a very good year for you, Michael. Thank you for posting many inspiring images this year, and being a lively presence around the WP arena.
