Every pixel was spoken to softly and coaxed and cajoled into a new life because, you see, many of my influences lived a couple of centuries ago. They didn’t have pixels. They had pigments. And that’s what they did with pigments in those days.

Tech note: This was all done with varying degrees of microcontrast (Lightroom calls it Clarity) in DxO PhotoLab and then put into layers and selectively smart-sharpened and/or surface-blurred and finally blended in Photoshop. No paint filters. Ever.

    It was a dark and stormy sky…
    In most of my photographs I push the Clarity slider up some or even a lot. The main exception is with portraits of people, where I generally push the slider down to soften skin features a little. I’ve also quickly gotten fond of upping the recent Texture slider.

    I was in a webinar yesterday with landscape photographer Steven Friedman…you probably know him…he talked about storms and inclement weather as perfect for shooting…lovely composition…feels peaceful Michael ☺️🤓 smiles Hedy
