Feb 7, 2013. Sonoma County Coast, California.
It is rare that I re-post an image. It was calling to me and I could not turn a deaf ear. And it’s rare that the entire scene is blue. But it was.

I don’t remember seeing the original post. The question is what made you feel the urgency to repost it now.

There was a post by an English photographer on Instagram that was similar to this. That, along with the fact that I have been reworking my website and I’ve been revisiting a lot of images in the process.

I don’t see Rothko; I see O’Keeffe’s work from the end of her life.

Rothko is evident in another image which is a crop of the main image. See the original post. I do see late O’Keefe in this particular one, now that you mention it. I am a major fan of Georgia O’Keefe and her work is always an inspiration and an influence.

…..the art scene has a perennial discussion over what constitutes ‘true blue’. I think you found it, Michael.

It seems that it isn’t exactly the same. The original post must have been just before our acquaintance.

The original post was before the acquaintance of just about everybody who is now following this blog. It was very early.

Brilliant, my friend. Glad you didn’t turn a deaf ear!

Definitely worth revisiting, and the story was fun to read. Sometimes colors just pervade, right? 🙂
