You’ve reminded me that the earliest photography took hours to freeze time. Technological advances reduced the freezing time time to minutes, then seconds, and now in most cases to a few tenths or hundredths of a second. For someone in a cold enough climate, temperature can do the job, too.

Yes amazing what we take for granted. This was only the thousandth of a second. My camera can do 1/8000.

My camera can do 1/8000 too but I’ve almost never used that highest speed.

I’ve mostly used a speed like 1/2000 to try to freeze the splashing of water in a waterfall.
